DERBYSHIRE COMMUNITY RESPONSE UNIT IS NOW LIVE
How do people get help?
Residents can request help by:
• Sending their request online using a form on the council’s website at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/gethelp
• Calling a dedicated Community Response Unit phone line 01629 535091
How can the service help?
• Food shopping and delivery
• Checking up on people who are isolated with a phone call or online help to check whether there is anything they need and have a chat
• Collecting and delivering prescriptions
Who is eligible?
Anyone without friends or family to help them can request help if they are:
• Self-isolating because they or a member of their household is at risk
• Are struggling to meet basic needs because of financial, social or health restrictions
• Are pregnant
• Have underlying health conditions
• Are aged 70 or over
How can people volunteer?
Organisations are still looking to recruit more volunteers. Anyone who wants to help and is aged 18 to 70 and is fit and well should also visit the council website to register their interest at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/givehelp
Some organisations are looking for volunteers to offer a befriending telephone service, so anyone who wants to help but can’t leave their house could offer this kind of help.
This is the result of a massive amount of work led by the County Council. I would like to thank everyone who has played a part in this.
