Residents in Matlock Bath and the surrounding area have contacted Sarah Dines MP to see what can be done to tackle littering in the area. Sarah Dines met with Paul Wilson and Ashley Watts from the District Council yesterday to discuss how they will be managing litter.
Sarah Dines MP said, ‘Ever since my election over a year ago residents and local Councillors have contacted me regarding the amounts of litter in Matlock Bath, the surrounding area and our rivers. Yesterday I met with Ashley Watts, the Director of Community & Environmental Services at the District Council and The Chief Executive Paul Wilson to discuss how this issue will be managed. Making sure that our area is clean is vital, not only to benefit our local environment, but for residents. As restrictions are lifted this summer, I want to see that we are prepared to manage the influx of tourists to our area and that locations such as Matlock Bath remain clean.
I am delighted and welcome the news that two new Cleaning Green Operatives will shortly be employed by the District Council to tackle the issue of litter in Matlock Bath head on.
