On Saturday 28th May, Sarah Dines MP attended the Blessing of the Wells, the opening of Wirksworth Well Dressing.
Sarah Dines said, ‘Well Dressing is such a fantastic local tradition and one that not many other places in the UK participate in. I was delighted to attend the Blessing of the Wells in Wirksworth St Mary’s Church with County Cllr Dermot Murphy.
The Wells were beautiful and clearly local people have spent a huge amount of time and effort making them. I was so delighted to be able to attend in person this year as the pandemic had made it difficult in recent years. I particularly liked the fact all the churches of all denominations in Wirksworth attended as well as the fabulous Band. The Town Council representatives were perfect Marshall’s and everyone greatly enjoyed the blessings. It was simply wonderful.
