On 18 September Sarah Dines MP visited Gulliver’s Kingdom in Matlock Bath.
Sarah Dines MP said, ‘I was pleased to be invited to visit Gulliver’s Kingdom in Matlock Bath by one of the owners, Julie Phillips on Friday 18 September.
Julie gave me an interesting tour of the attractions, rides and the on-site accommodation as well as a detailed appraisal of how this business is coping through the pandemic and although things have been understandably difficult during this period, I was very impressed and inspired by the determination of this family-run business, to make the most of things and carry on business with every attention to safety and Covid awareness.
Local businesses like this are vital to our local economy and Julie explained they employ about 80 people at the Matlock site, all of whom are local.
The business was built up by Julie’s parents Ray and Hilary Phillips. Julie’s brother Nick is also integral member of the family business. Gulliver's World has been a much-loved part of the Matlock Bath area for decades and many locals I have spoken to have told me of the enjoyable times they have had there. I encourage people to support local attractions like this, we really do have brilliant tourist destinations in Derbyshire Dales.’
