Last week Sarah Dines MP joined Alastair Sneddon of Bagshaws LLP, the Livestock auctioneer at Bakewell Farmers Market to discuss farming during the pandemic.
Sarah Dines MP said, ‘I have been calling many farmers in my constituency to hear from them first hand, but It is always a pleasure to meet with Alastair Sneddon. As the livestock auctioneer at the Bakewell Farmers Market he is well informed to brief me on the feeling of farmers and current issues they are facing during the pandemic. Both my parents were farmers, so farming is very close to my heart. Farming is incredibly hard, farmers keep our country going and they deserve all our support.
We discussed the various issues the industry is facing such as how the stock markers have been impacted by the pandemic and the transfer of previous farm subsidy schemes to the new schemes now we have left the EU. We also discussed the various Government schemes and what they will mean for farmers in Derbyshire Dales. There will be various government public consultations on farming issues in the forthcoming months and I encourage all farmers to take part in them. I am passionate about standing up for farmers in Derbyshire Dales, so as always, if any farmers have any concerns, I do encourage them to contact me. ’
