On the 9th February Sarah Dines MP attended a meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hospitality to discuss how best to help the hospitality industry during this difficult time.
Sarah Dines MP said, ‘At the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hospitality, we welcomed Kate Nicholls, the CEO of U.K. Hospitality to address us and we had a useful discussion on all issues about hospitality including VAT, rates, commercial rents, skills, labour, pubs, wedding venues, tourism and of course, strategies for re-opening and regular employee testing.
I am asking the Government to consider what further help can be given to the hospitality industry. The hospitality industry is vitally important to Derbyshire Dales and will play a major part in our economic recovery post this pandemic. I have specifically asked the Government to consider whether the VAT reduction could be extended and further relief from business rates to be provided. If you follow my work as an MP, you will know that I am passionate about making sure that our businesses and local economy, not only survive this pandemic, but thrive when we are through it. I have raised the plight of pubs and our hospitability industry directly to Ministers on the floor of the House of Commons and will continue to do so to ensure that our hospitality businesses get the support they need. ’
