Sarah Dines has been visiting schools in Derbyshire Dales.
Sarah Dines said, ‘We have some fantastic young minds in Derbyshire Dales and I feel very privileged that in the last few weeks I have had the opportunity to visit three of our local schools. This year, my Christmas card has been designed by a child at Grindleford Primary School and I had the opportunity to present all the children who entered with a certificate. All the designs were fabulous and the winners design and the two runners up artwork will be printed on my card and presented to the Prime Minister this year. I know that he enjoys seeing the Christmas card art from all the children across the country ahead of Christmas.
I was delighted to visit Youlgrave Primary School last week to see the work on their new playground. The school wrote to me as they are trying to raise funds for the playground. I was able to suggest local organisations to approach and I am glad they have been able to secure some funding. I had a lovely time meeting the children and teachers. I also visited St Anselm’s which was recently awarded Prep School of the Year at the Tatler School Awards Ceremony 2021. Again it was fantastic to meet the children and teachers who have all worked so hard during the pandemic.
Teachers across Derbyshire Dales have gone the extra mile to ensure that no child has been left behind in this pandemic and I know many of you will join me in thanking them for their efforts. This has been a difficult time for children and the support they have received from our local schools has been vital.’
