On the 5th July, the government announced the shortlisted locations for the Great British Railways headquarters competition. Derby will go forward for final consideration.
Sarah Dines said, ‘I am absolutely delighted Derby has been shortlisted in the final round for a new location for the Great British Railways Headquarters competition. This follows a huge amount of work by parliamentarians and other stakeholders across Derbyshire.
Great British Railways Transition Team launched an online public consultative vote on the 5th July, which will run for six weeks until 15 August and I encourage everyone to vote in support of our area. It will be used to test public support for each location and to allow the people that the railway serves the chance to have their say.
The national headquarters will be supported by regional headquarters across the country, putting decision-making and investment at the heart of the communities they serve. If Derby is successful, this could be fantastic for our area.’
