On Friday 11th November, Sarah Dines MP visited DSF Refractories and Minerals Ltd.
Sarah Dines MP commented: “I was pleased to have the opportunity to visit DSF Refractories & Minerals Ltd, located in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, and the UK’s largest manufacturer of shaped refractories.
The company was founded 130 years ago and is a major producer and supplier of processed refractory minerals for use in the refractory and other industries and DSF export products all over the world.
I was delighted to meet the Managing Director of the company, Mr Neale Parkin, along with Phil Bearn (Finance Director) and Paul Hutchinson (Sales and Marketing Director). Neale explained that their proven track record, their reputation and integrity ensures that they secure contracts with leading international companies such as Pilkington, a company based in North America, with whom DSF has had a working relationship since the 1990s.
DSF employs around 130 people from the surrounding community and therefore play a vital role in our local economy. I am also so impressed to see companies like DSF who are world leading in their fields, based here in Derbyshire Dales.
Neale explained that the demand for their products is such that they would like to increase their workforce by a further 12 to 15 people. Offering competitive rates of pay and a motivated and exciting environment to work in, I would urge anyone who is looking for employment, which includes training, to contact DSF. Details can be found on their website: www.dsf.co.uk
As it was Armistice Day, I was honoured to be able to join the team at their memorial for DSF employees who served and those who had died in the First World War. The memorial with its special bricks was made and fired by men at DSF after the war. It is a poignant roll of honour for those brave individuals from our area, who will not be forgotten.
I must say that I feel incredibly proud that such a company exists within my constituency of Derbyshire Dales, and I will be remaining in close contact with them.’’
