East Midlands Railways invited Sarah Dines MP on a journey between Derby train station and Matlock as an opportunity to discuss rail connectivity for the stations along the Derwent Valley Line. Sarah Dines MP met with Managing Director Will Rodgers and Stakeholder Manager Laura Etheridge and was able to discuss both local and national challenges for the industry, as well as EMR’s planned reinstatement of off-peak Matlock to Nottingham services.
Sarah Dines MP said: “I am very grateful for EMR’s willingness to engage with me in recent weeks to demonstrate their commitment to delivering vital services for the many constituents who I know rely on the Derwent Valley Line. I was encouraged to learn that passenger numbers have robustly recovered along the line, and I hope constituents and visitors alike will take advantage of the services returning to the timetable in May”.
Sarah Dines MP had the opportunity to travel in the cab of the train, while collecting the service’s signalling token at Ambergate station. Sarah will hold further constituency-based rail visits, with an impending visit from Rail Minster Huw Merriman to be scheduled in due course.
