On Tuesday Sarah Dines MP met with the Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps to discuss the possibility of re-opening closed railway lines in Derbyshire.
The Government are launching a review to look at restoring railways across the Country. As part of this, Sarah Dines MP has been meeting with them to discuss if the Matlock to Buxton line in the constituency could be reopened.
Ms Dines said, ‘reopening this rail line could be an incredibly exciting opportunity for Derbyshire, but we must weigh all the positives and consider any negatives. I have been contacted by multiple residents calling for this and there are many interesting ideas which could benefit Derbyshire Dales. I am surveying the thoughts of constituents in Derbyshire Dales and would welcome any views to my parliamentary email: [email protected].’
