On 27th June Sarah Dines MP met with Peak UK to discuss the world leading kit they produce for our Olympians and to meet the TeamGB Canoe and Kayak Slalom and Sprint squad.
Sarah said, ‘I was delighted to be invited to meet members of our Great British TeamGB team by Peak UK this weekend to watch them practise at the newly erected slalom training course on the river Derwent at Matlock Bath in their official “TEAM GB” kit.
I met with Olympian Adam Burgess who is a TeamGB Olympic Squad member for Tokyo 2021 in the discipline of men’s canoe single C1. Selected in October 2019 to represent Great Britain at the Olympic Games, Adam is a Multiple World Cup Medallist. I also met training squad member Chris Bowers. Chris has competed for the UK in the World Championships where he won Gold in the Men’s K1 Team Event in Rio. Both Chris and Adam are fully lottery funded athletes on the UK Sport Podium Potential Programme.
Both athletes wore their new locally designed and produced Peak UK kit with pride. They are working hard training full time and are looking forward to what the future holds. They enjoyed the session on the Derwent! I wish them every success - and look forward to seeing them return home as medal winners wearing kit so proudly produced here in Derbyshire Dales!
A massive thank you to Peak and to Adam and Chris for their time and Olympic level demonstration.
