Today was a great day to spend some time at Peak Ales on the Chatsworth Estate. I was delighted to meet the owners Robert and Debra Evans with Councillor Alasdair Sutton. I had an impressive tour of the visitors’ centre, the gin still and the micro brewery. The project was been a rewarding one for Robert and Debra who have devoted years and significant investment into getting this fabulous enterprise up and running from scratch, employing local people. Like all local businesses, they are concerned about the effect of lockdown on the business. They were pleased to receive Government support at this difficult time through the flexible furlough scheme which has been a real help.
We had detailed discussions about the Treasury’s Small Brewer’s Duty Reform Proposal and how this would affect the business. As their local Member of Parliament I am going to be making representations on their behalf to the Government.
We had time to discuss the processes of ale making and I was pleased to support them in a small way by buying a crate of Chatsworth Gold.
This is a great local business and well worth a visit. Please support them!
