On 24 September, Sarah Dines MP raised the plight of historic house wedding venues to The Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, The Rt. Hon Oliver Dowden, on the floor of House today.
Sarah Dines MP said, ‘We are lucky to have many historic house wedding venues in Derbyshire Dales, such as Shottle Hall and Tissington Hall. This pandemic has been tremendously hard on the wedding industry and I wanted to take the opportunity to ask The Secretary of State to consider utilising the Culture Recovery Fund packages to create an emergency business support fund, that historic house wedding venues in Derbyshire Dales would be eligible to apply for. It is my belief that emergency support is needed to preserve these establishments and help them through this increasingly difficult time. I was delighted that The Secretary of State said that they will be looking into these proposal. Following the questions in the House I spoke directly to the Secretary of State on this matter and I will be writing to Ministers to petition further for our historic wedding venues.’
