On Thursday 15 October, Sarah Dines MP welcomed via video children at Darley Dale Primary School, for a special assembly called ‘Be Internet Legends.’ Be Internet Legends is Google and Parent Zone’s online safety programme – supporting children, families and primary schools across the country. Since 1st May, they have been delivering dozens of interactive livestream assemblies for pupils learning at school and home, with a focus on digital wellbeing, online safety and working with vulnerable communities.
Sarah Dines MP said, ‘I was delighted to be asked to film a short introduction to the Be Internet Legends assembly at Darley Dale Primary school. The programme is designed to teach children how to become Internet Legends by being safe online while you use the internet. At the moment, more children are using the internet for learning and to keep in touch with their friends and family and it is vital that children are given the tools to make sure they stay safe online. Be Internet Legends introduces five key pillars, to stay Sharp, Alert, Secure, Kind and Brave, designed by psychologists and online safety experts with input from children themselves. The pillars deliver important behavioral messages – to be Kind and Brave online and speak to a trusted adult about anything worrying or confusing.’
