On 10 December Sarah Dines MP had a briefing from the YHA, following the announcement that they have been awarded a grant in round 1 of the government’s Green Recovery Challenge Fund. This follows the Cultural Recovery Fund grant of £866,700 that they received earlier this year.
Sarah Dines MP said, ‘The YHA has been awarded £2,543,600 for its project entitled Generation Green. This is a multi-partner consortium project connecting young people to nature. Charlie Simpson the YHA Associate Director of Charity Development and Simon Ainley Head of Partnerships joined me for a zoom conversation to discuss the plans for Youth Hostels in Derbyshire Dales and across the Country.
I was delighted to hear that the YHA will use part of the Green Recovery Challenge Fund to provide jobs and training for young people in the constituency
I have been actively pushing for support for our essential historic institutions such as the YHA, so I am delighted they are being supported by the Government.
I have many fond memories of using Youth Hostels when I was younger and they really are a fantastic organisation. As soon as I am able, I am looking forward to meeting the team at the YHA Head Office in Matlock.’
