A new vaccination site is opening in Hathersage as part of the biggest vaccination programme in history.
The new site, in Hathersage Memorial Hall, is run by Hathersage Pharmacy and will provide a new option for the people of Derbyshire Dales, alongside the existing GP-led vaccination sites at Newholme Hospital in Bakewell and St Oswald’s Hospital in Ashbourne.
The Memorial Hall site only takes bookings through the National Booking Service, and people can visit the www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination to check whether they are eligible. Anyone unable to book online can call 119 free of charge, anytime between 7am and 11pm seven days a week. You do not need your NHS number to make a booking.
Sarah Dines MP said, ‘I am absolutely delighted to hear that a new vaccination site has opened in Hathersage. This is step in the right direction for residents in the north of Derbyshire Dales as we work together to beat Covid-19. Previously residents in the north of the constituency were required to travel to Bakewell or further afield. I am so pleased that now there is another option.
I have visited St Oswald’s in Ashbourne several times and I am incredibly impressed by the professionalism and dedication of all the NHS workers and volunteers running the programme. Seeing residents being vaccinated feels like a light at the end of the tunnel and I know that the vaccination centre in Hathersage will operate in the same professional and caring way.
The vaccination programme is continuing at an alarming rate. Now 55 year olds and older are eligible to attend their vaccination, I have had the call and I am having mine very soon. I encourage everyone who is eligible for a vaccine to have one.’
